Résumé

Lofts of Amsterdam is the second in a series of seven books in which the Tectum publishing company shows you the finest lofts of several Northern, Central and Southern European cities. To follow the highly successful Lofts of Antwerp, which appeared in 1999, we shall be going to London, Paris, Hamburg, Barcelona and Stockholm. Diversity is the thread running throughout the series. The image of a city and its inhabitants is defined not only by its geographical situation and history but also by economics. The design of a home is usually a reflection of these various aspects. Lofts of Amsterdam takes you on a captivating walk round former warehouses, empty churches, schools and hospitals, all of which have been given new purpose as a home or workplace. Boldly and with great individuality, people often bend unconventional buildings to suit themselves. In this book, intimate domestic interiors are often being shown for the first time. Photos predominate and the text is deliberately kept to a minimum. Those with a passion for architecture will be in their element. Enjoy looking and reading!

À propos des auteurs

PHILIPPE DE BAECK and RUDY STEVENS, the driving force behind the TECTUM publishing company, have produced this superb book, Lofts of Amsterdam, in close collaboration with FRITS DE KOUSEMAEKER. It is the second in a series of seven on lofts in various European capitals. Since TECTUM is rapidly building a reputation with publications on architecture, interiors, design and related topics, it has taken over responsibility for this series from CONDOMINIUM project developers, which took the initiative of putting Lofts of Antwerp onto the market in 1999. In Lofts of Amsterdam, TECTUM provides yet more proof of the high quality of the publications it represents. FRITS DE KOUSEMAEKER: 35 years of experience as an estate agent, for some time as a partner in DTZ ZADELHOFF. He has already published five books on this subject. RUBY STEVENS: founder and business manager of CONDOMINIUM, Antwerp's market leader in the development of industrial buildings into lofts.
