Résumé

Provides in-depth, systematic coverage of the fabrication methods and physical properties of nanoscaled materials. Provides thorough coverage of the physics, and processes involved in the preparation of nanomaterials and their structure and formation mechanisms, including nanopowders, nanowires, nanotubes, nanorods, nanofilms, and nanoblocks and their nanomaterial properties. A chapter is devoted to each of the main types of synthesis method : i.e., gas phase, liquid phase, solid phase, and self-assembly.
Chapters are also devoted to the mechanical, thermal, optical, electrical, and magnetic properties of nanomaterials, including the physical theories that describe them, as well as theories of thermal conductivity, deformatjon and fracture, electron transport, etc. A variety of common problems related to the use of nanomaterials are elaborated and discussed. Physical Fundamentals of Nanomaterials is divided into two main sections : having provided a description of nanomaterials and a brief overview of their development, importance, and place in history, the first section covers the concepts, principles, and theories of their physical properties ; and the second section covers the most important and commonly used preparation methods.
This book also compares experimental results and materials science principles to discuss nanomaterial characteristics, with the various performance-related nanomaterials physics theories being described qualitatively, rather than using theoretical or mathematical formulas and equations. This book also includes descriptions of nanomaterial research developments as well as possible problems and hazards that may exist.
Physical Fundamentals of Nanomaterials provides readers with a basic understanding of how nanomaterials are synthesized as well as their resultant physical properties, focusing on the science of nanomaterials rather than on their applications, and serves as an excellent starting point for researchers, materials scientists, and advanced students who already possess a basic knowledge of chemistry and physics.
