Résumé

They had just one suit between them and had never read the Wall Street Journal, but they were determined to make a killing. If chaos theory can provide tools for finding order in the behavior of cloud formations, measles epidemic or dripping taps then, wondered maverick physicists Doyne Farmer and Norman Packard, could it not also be used to extract patterns in the world's financial markets. Cult heroes, Farmer and Packard first appeared in Thomas Bass's The Newtonian Casino: now he follows their insanely ambitious quest to take on Wall Street, capturing the dreams, the deals, the disappointments and the stunning successes. The predictors will delight anyone who fantasizes about finding that edge to beat the system.
