Résumé

Welcome to the mysterious realm of "Behaving Badly, " a captivating collection of thriller short stories that beckons you into the unknown. Born from the shadows of inspiration, this enigmatic compilation unfolds with tales that will send shivers down your spine and leave you yearning for more. The odyssey begins with 'Soulless, ' where a young woman battles to break free from the relentless grip of a stalker, drawing inspiration from haunting echoes of real-life stories of resilience.
As you delve deeper into the heart of darkness, 'Delusion 13' ensnares a luckless man in a thrilling tale of illusory love. 'Shootin' Candy' immerses you in the city's pulse, exploring themes of power and greed as a privileged teen faces the precipice of morality. 'Tell Him to Run' unfolds a poignant exploration of choices forged in desperation and poverty, ignited by the indomitable spirit of those defying insurmountable odds.
'Behaving Badly' takes you into the psyche of an unstable young man fiercely protective of his parents, delving into the chilling lengths one can go to ensure the safety of loved ones. Brace yourself for a journey where shadows conceal secrets that challenge the boundaries between darkness and light, leaving you questioning the very fabric of reality. REVIEWWILD AT HEART'This is a punch in the stomach sort of read.
Dynamic, staccato sentences lead the reader into an anxiety-induced state. The characters in this collection are not poignant people musing existential woes. They are people at the edge, fighting for their lives! The writing aims to achieve directness, a sense of urgency, and raw honesty. Nothing is sugar-coated or nuanced. The reality that hits you is elemental and solid. Every story/chapter has a fatal meeting between a perpetrator and a victim.
The violence is breathtaking and racy, and the amount of emotions invested is huge. If I had to choose one from the stories, it would be Tell Him to Run. Maximum impact and a fine example of the merits of unpretentious, direct writing that differentiates between the weak and tasteless sentimental and the raw, humane and emotional. Very impressive.' MASTERFUL SHORT STORIES'This is one of the best short story collections ever.
I can honestly say that no matter what genre of work you prefer, you will miss out on some of the edgiest and best writing a reader can devour. There are five (would have eaten far more) tales of victims and perpetrators that are delivered from a first-person point of view. Normally, this might, in a short story, result in a thinly painted descriptive monologue, but the author's commanding style of writing delivers.
You will enter the protagonists' dark and often seedy world, and you will feel their pain, frustration, and fear. Each story has deeper messages, a thought-provoking understanding of the circumstances that cause us or the characters to behave badly, and even an innocent child manifesting fears by reading the emotional undercurrents between loving and caring parents. This is definitely a must-read.
I will now work my way through the other books published by this author.'
