Dennis Phyfer thought he'd only met ghosts in the desetrted Navada mining town of Cherry Creek. The mines long abandoned, almost all evidence of civilization had long blown away on desert wind. All that remained was the town cemetery and an ancient saloon------the later still open for business. The thirsty travaler and his wife are on a geneiological expedition to find the grave of his grandfather, and the eccentric proprietors of the Cherry Creek Saloon are happy to serve up stories as well as burgers and beer.
But Dennis' grandfather is no hero in the stories; nothing but a Damn O' Sinner according to the old man who seems to know the tale in remarkable detail. What had Myron Phyfer done to earn such a wicked reputation? To Dennis' astonishment, the old man weaves a story of a shewrd businessman during the Nevada mining boom of the early twentieth century, who was the owner of the very saloon in which they sit.
The Damn O' Sinner's life outside morality came to a swift, unpleasant end, but no before he had brought ruin on too many others.
