Professor Sandra Dunsmuir is a qualified educational psychologist. She is Director of the Educational Psychology Group at UCL and Co-Director of the UCL postgraduate courses in CBT for Children and Young People. Sandra has had extensive experience working as an educational psychologist in four different local authorities and continues to practice on a regular basis with children, their families and teachers in school and community settings.
Her research integrates empirical research and psychological theory with a particular focus on relationships and communication, parent-teacher trust, interventions to support children's learning and cognitive behavioural interventions. Dr Jessica Dewey is a Senior Educational Psychologist and Deputy Programme Director on the Doctorate for Educational and Child Psychology at UCL. Jessica has practiced in both large rural county authorities and city borough contexts.
Her research interests include the teaching of children's thinking skills, the effectiveness of metacognitive interventions on learning and the use of Video Interactive Guidance (VIG) to enhance relationships and communication between adults and children across a range of needs and settings. Dr Susan Birch is a Senior Educational Psychologist with Hampshire and the Isle of Wight Educational Psychology.
She is the Deputy Programme Director on the Doctorate for Educational and Child Psychology and the Course Co-Director for the CPD Doctorate in Educational Psychology at University College London. Susan's current interests include supporting the emotional health and well-being of children and young people, bullying and interprofessional collaboration. Susan is an AVIG-UK accredited VIG Guider. Peter Cooper is Emeritus Professor of Psychology at the University of Reading.
He is also a practising clinical psychologist and Series Editor of the 'Overcoming' series. Peter Cooper is Professor of Psychopathology at the Winnicott Research Unit at the University of Reading. Recognised as one of the world's experts in the treatment of bulimia he has more recently focused on the treatment of postpartum depression.
