Résumé

Jakob Kayne and his brother Samuel are the last of the Hippocrats. Sworn to treat those in need (and those who are deemed worthy), the two Healer-Alchemists have been tracked across the Archipelagos by manifold enemies, including the Inquisition. On his latest mission, Jakob, a formidable Memory-Eater whose face none can recall, is confronted by an obstacle as unexpected as it is persistent: feelings for his latest patient, Victoria Marcheda, amid the fiery destruction of the city of La Isabela.

À propos des auteurs

Sylvain Runberg, born in 1971, divides his time between Stockholm, Provence, and Paris. He has a diploma in Plastic Arts and an MA in Political History. Before he started writing, Runberg worked for publishing house Humanoides Associés, as the editor for Moebius & Enki Bilal, among others. His first book was launched in 2004 and since then Sylvain Runberg has had more than 50 books published by the largest French publishers (Glénat, Le Lombard, Dupuis, Dargaud, Casterman, Soleil, Futuropolis) and is now translated into 15 languages, having sold in total over 1 million copies worldwide. Very quickly recognized as one of the most talented writers of his generation, Sylvain Runberg is characterized by the variety of the worlds that he creates: space opera ("Orbital, " "Warship Jolly Roger"), speculative fiction ("Drones"), psychological thrillers ("Cases Blanches, " "Face Cachée, " of which the first volume was awarded the Silver Prize of the 4th International Manga Awards in Tokyo), horror ("Sonar"), historical adventures tinged with fantasy ("Darwin's Diaries" [Le Lombard/Cinebook], "Conquests" [Le Lombard/Europe Comics], "Hammerfall"), dark fantasy, crime stories ("Motorcity" [Dargaud/Europe Comics], "Interpol" [Dupuis/Europe Comics]), and political thrillers, all characterized by his realistic style.
Runberg has also adapted the Stieg Larsson trilogy "Millennium" ("The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo") with illustrators Homs and Man. Sylvain Runberg is currently working on several new comics projects that will be published in the years to come in Europe and the US (he has always claimed that the US comics scene was a great source of inspiration for him). He's also working on a TV project of his own creation, as well as other projects linked to television and other famous licenses. Mateo Guerrero was born in Cadiz, Spain, in 1976.
Gifted with precocious talent, he soon started producing comic books for publishing house Planeta-DeAgostini. His first title with them was "Crónicas de Mesene" (1998), then "Cazadores en la red, " a series he created for Idibus, a supplement for the daily El País. Following the example of many of his compatriots, Mateo Guerrero excels in many different styles, and his graphic culture draws as much on comics as it does on manga and the Franco-Belgian school.
He was rewarded for his eclecticism with a detour via the States, where he became the principle illustrator of the series "Warlords: Age of Ice, " for DreamWave studio. When DreamWave was forced to close its doors, Guerrero returned to the Franco-Belgian genre, producing "DragonSeed" (2006) for the publisher Humanoïdes Associés, with McClung and Jimenez. Having begun a collaboration with Le Lombard on "Beast" (2008) and then scripting and illustrating the fantasy series "Turo" (Le Lombard, 2011), he turned his attention to the artwork of "Gloria Victus" (Le Lombard 2014, Europe Comics 2017), accompanied by Juanra Fernandez.
His most recent work includes the historical fantasy saga "Jakob Kayne" (Le Lombard/Europe Comics), with writer Sylvain Runberg.
