Résumé

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 The shark attacks in 1916 were the result of a mystery that has baffled scientists for nearly a century. I have tried to make the individuals who play a role in this story come to life through the use of numerous historical and contemporary sources. #2 The Engleside Hotel was a grand lodge off the southern coast of New Jersey, at the edge of the vast and desolate pinelands.
It was a temperance house, but guests enjoyed the pleasures of reading, dining, dancing in the starlit evening, and waiting for the return mail. #3 On the first day of July, the Engleside and the ocean were reunited by the bright gold band of beach. The young men and women in the hotel spent their days reading the Philadelphia Public Ledger and smoking Turkish cigarettes on the porches, and discussing the German march to Paris and the fall of the Philadelphia A's to last place. #4 The Engleside hotel, which was founded by Robert Barclay Engle, was experiencing a boom period.
The hotel had never experienced such a boom before.
