Résumé

On the morning of the 14th of October 2002, one of South Africa's foremost whistleblowers, Angelo Agrizzi, leaves home at six o'clock to attend a routine bail court hearing at the Palm Ridge Magistrates' Court. After being instructed to first report to Brackendowns Police Station, he finds himself locked up in a Casspir-like vehicle under Special Forces guard, and accompanied to court by a massive convoy of blue-light brigades.
He is told that this is for his own "protection". In a sinister turn of events, the court denies him bail on the unfounded basis that he poses a flight risk, Angelo is ferried off to notorious "Sun City", the Johannesburg Central Prison. "I couldn't fathom why they would say that the security for me was a primary concern, and that special arrangements had been made to handle my health, when I was not in a cell that looked like something out of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. That night, alone in his filthy prison cell and now in the clutches of the very same people he had exposed at Zondo, an attempt is made on his life. This sequel to the chart-topping Inside the Belly of the Beast - The Real Bosasa Story exposes the involvement of the highest echelons of power in dirty tricks, corruption, boardroom assassinations, lies, deceit and cover-ups; murders and the swapping of cadavers.
It is also a compelling memoir of one man's victory over death. Substantiated by irrefutable proof, medical records and key witness statements, the book uncovers what really happens to those who expose the powerful and the corrupted. In bone-chilling detail, Surviving the Beast ultimately explores the failings of state capture and why so many big fish still swim free.
