When Pan's mother, Hybris-the goddess of hubris-comes back into Hermes' life, the timing couldn't be worse. Not to mention, she refuses to be ignored. Not that anyone could ignore Hybris if they wanted to, and Hermes definitely wants to. He still loves her after thousands of years, and while the pain isn't as fresh, it still lingers beneath the surface.
Letting her back into his life now would only cause more problems. Hybris' powers prevented her from fixing the damage done with Hermes and their son, but the arrival of their grandson is the catalyst needed to push her to reconnect with them-even if it causes her physical pain to go against her own prideful words. Not only that, but Hermes is determined to defy Zeus' demand that he not interfere with the Satyroi.
