The Black Death pandemic is historically known for decimating the European population. However, this pandemic brought positive consequences to European society. The plague devastated Europe by killing approximately a third of the population. Furthermore, Europe's encounter with the plague had economic, social, and religious effects that vastly changed European society and contributed to Europe's emergence into the Renaissance, an age of exploration.
