Résumé

I have been a pastor for over thirty-five years and a volunteer chaplain in a juvenile prison for over twenty-five years - two of those years as a Contractual Chaplain. Serving in those capacities, I was troubled with the number of people who claimed to be born again believers but who placed little value on theology or the authority of scripture. It is with a pastor's heart that I first wrote my book as a study I took my people through, who then suggested I should publish it. My book is written as I preach and teach in my church and any outside study group, with a style that logically flows from one thought to the next.
It has been used in study groups of teenagers and adults for spiritual growth and a better understanding of God's priorities for His people. The over-riding theme is that God is a God of truth who cannot lie, and therefore, we also must value truth as God has defined it for us in His Word. In my ministry over the years, I have learned to speak with definitions rather than terms. I have found in conversations with others, that even though we may be using the same Christian phrases and terms, we may not be using the same definitions.
My book does not use a lot of theological terms, but is written with definitions so that it may be easily and clearly understood. The subject matter of the book is the value we need to place on truth as God has revealed it. It has been well received by those around me and I trust it will be by you also.

À propos de l'auteur

Biographie de charles Scheele

Grew up on a farm in Illinois. My Dad went to seminary and Mom attended Bible College. They became the leaders of the youth group in our church. My parents read through the Bible every year and encouraged us kids to do the same. When I was 11, I came to admire my parent's character and fairness with us kids and attributed it to their Bible reading, I began reading the Bible through every year like they did. I graduated from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College of Owatonna, MN, in 1979 with a BS in Pastorology and Bible.
In 1983 I graduated from Central Baptist Theological Seminary of Minneapolis, MN, with a Master of Divinity. In 1986 I became the pastor of Lakeland Baptist Church of Crandon, WI. In 1992 I became the pastor of Berean Baptist Church in Tomahawk, WI, where I still am today. In 1993 I became a volunteer at Lincoln Hills School, a juvenile prison in Irma, WI, and in 1994 I was hired as a temporary chaplain for the center for two years.
My volunteer work at Lincoln Hills involved Bible study groups and counseling, which I did for 26 years. I had made a profession of faith when 8 years old, but never was sure of my salvation. In the fall of 1978, in my junior year at Pillsbury, God convicted me of my sin while reading Romans 1:18 and the justness of His judgment; I repented and made sure of my salvation and was baptized. At that time I surrendered to the call to the ministry and have not struggled with my salvation since.
