Résumé

This edition of Jane Austen's letters was edited by Fanny Knight's son Edward Hugessen Knatchbull-Hugessen (the first Baron Brabourne, lived 1829-1893), and was published in 1884. The Letters of Jane Austen (1884) publishes these letters for the first time, and sets them in a family context drawn from the reminiscences of those who knew Austen personally. This first of two volumes begins with a biographical essay and then includes letters from 1796 to 1807. This is a wonderful book and gift for any Jane Austen admirer! It's a wonderful and enchanting read and in a beautiful layout with some illustrations and printed on cream paper.  Enjoy Jane Austen's letters to her sister Cassandra and dive into the Regency England and see it with Jane's eyes ...

À propos des auteurs

Born Edward Hugessen Knatchbull, he was the younger son of Sir Edward Knatchbull, 9th Baronet, who twice served as Paymaster-General, and his second wife Fanny Catherine Knight, who was a niece of author Jane Austen. Though forgotten and unread today, Knatchbull-Hugessen wrote many well-known short stories of fantasy and faery. Brabourne also edited the first edition of the novelist Jane Austen's letters, published in 1884.
This edition included about two-thirds of her surviving letters, and was dedicated to Queen Victoria. He inherited the letters after his mother's death in December 1882. Jane Austen (born December 16, 1775 in Steventon, Basingstoke and Deane; died July 18, 1817 in Winchester) was a British writer of the Regency period whose major works Pride and Prejudice and Emma are among the classics of English literature. Tina Müller has been writing and reading stories since she was five years old.
After studying business administration and media, she worked for eight years as an editor, product manager and online editor at a publishing house. The bibliophile business economist has been blogging lovingly and appreciatively about books, book trends and other book topics since October 2007. As a freelance editor, her heart beats especially for "self-publishers".
