Biographie de Jonathan Swift
Jonathan Swift was born in Dublin in 1667, studied at Trinity College, and was ordained in 1694, becoming Dean of St. Patrick's Cathedral in 1713. The products of his pen ranged from classic satires such as A Tale of a Tub (1704) and Gulliver's Travels (1726) to poetry and personal writings. The friend of Pope, Gay, and leading Tories, he moved in the most influential London circles until the Whigs came to power in 1714, after which he lived in Dublin in increasing isolation, Swift died in 1745.
