France boasts a remarkable quantity of high-quality grape varied soils that yield exceptional wines of worldwide reputation. Yet France's wine-growing tradition, unchallenged for centuries, has begun to change. Over the past twenty years, French wines have undergone a veritable revolution : the grands vins from traditional regions now climb to prohibitive prices - that is, if they are not "sold out" before even reaching the retail trade. Conversely, regions once considered "minor" are experiencing a winegrowing renaissance that has lead to the emergence of excellent wines with distinctive personality but available at more reasonable prices.
