Every element of a videogame is subject to a swirling tumult of ambitions, conventions, problems, considerations, and compromises. Dust motes in a deserted office, a road winding across an open moor, a charging berserker. Look closely and the screen will devolve into pixels, but lean back and they will coalesce into an image that's deep with meaning. A darkened turbine hall, a leaping plumber, a burning sun.
Making videogames is about inspiring emotions stimulating us into action, pulling us into and through a story, helping us to understand the motivations of the character we're playing and, in the process, creating visual art.
