Biographie d'Arthur Golden
Arthur Golden was born and brought up in Chattanooga. Tennessee. He is a 1978 graduate of Harvard College with a degree in art history, specialising in Japanese art. In 1980 he earned an M A. in Japanese history from Columbia University where he also learned mandarin Chinese. After a summer at Beijing University, he went to work at a magazine in Tokyo. In 1988 he received an M.A. in English from Boston University.He has lived and worked in Japan, and since that time has been teaching writing and literature in the Boston area. He now lives in Brookline, Massachusetts, with his wife and children.

C'est sans doute avec ce roman, qu'a débuté ma passion pour le monde des fleurs et des saules.
Arthur Golden sert un roman très documenté et magnifiquement articulé autour d’événements historiques comme la seconde guerre mondiale. Ses personnages prennent vie. Il s'est pour cela grandement inspiré de la vie de Mineko Iwasaki, qui sortira elle même une biographie afin de bien distinguer le romancé du réel.
Lu une première fois en Français, découvrir sa version originale fut un régal.
