Résumé

A wonderful celebration of British design legend Sir Paul Smith and his one-of-a-kind creativity. This new monograph captures the unique spirit of iconic British fashion designer Sir Paul Smith. Through the lens of 50 objects chosen by Sir Paul himself for the inspiration they have provided him over the years, the book explores everything from his very first show in Paris and his cult Floral Street store in London, to the evolution of that stripe and his most recent collections and collaborations.
In this way the book presents his work in a surprising and visually exciting way and shows him to be a truly dynamic and versatile designer. The book opens with a foreword by Jonathan Ive, former Chief Design Officer of Apple, and goes on to provide an unprecedented insight into one of the most creative minds working in British and International design today. Hundreds of images of Paul's work are included -a mix of catwalk and product shots, iPhone snaps, family photographs, images from ad campaigns as well as specially commissioned photography.
Throughout the book are personal contributions - notes, drawings and photos - from such fashion and design heavyweights as Tadao Ando, Manolo Blahnik, James Dyson, James Fallon, Ines de la Fressange, Martin Parr, John Pawson and Alice Rawsthorn.
