Résumé
This volume provides descriptions of single- and two-phase flows and of heat transfer in porous media. The fundamentals of fluid mechanics, conduction, convection (including dispersion), and radiation are given starting from the first principles and then applying the local volume-averaging techniques. Whenever a complete theoretical treatment is not available, a semi-empirical treatment is given. Special attention is given to hydrodynamics, dispersion, and phase change at and near the surfaces bounding the porous media.
The book aims to provide practitioners and researchers with the principles needed to deal with heat transfer in porous media as encountered in geological, petroleum, environmental, and industrial processes, and reactor and other applications. To assist with applications, graphical and tabular presentations of the results are given in addition to derivation of the governing
equations and the associated constitutive equations.
This second edition has been corrected and revised throughout, and the treatments of chemical reactions, local thermal nonequilibrium, and phase change have been extended.
