Arthur L. Craigmill, Ph.D., DABT is currently a Cooperative Extension Specialist in Toxicology in the Department of Environmental Toxicology at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Craigmill received his B.S. degree with honors from Ursinus College, and his Ph.D. in pharmacology/toxicology from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Craigmill's first faculty position was at Washington State University in the College of Pharmacy, and from there he moved to the Department of Physiological Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Oklahoma State University before moving to the University of California in 1980.
Dr. Craigmill is a diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (ABT), and served on the Executive Board of the ABT and as President (1999-2000). Dr. Craigmill is one of the co-founders of the Food Animal Residue Avoidance Databank (FARAD) and director of the California Component of FARAD. Dr. Craigmill has directed the Western Region Minor Use Animal Drug Program since it's inception in 1982. He currently serves as the chairperson of the Veterinary Medicine Advisory Committee for the Food and Drug Administration Center for Veterinary Medicine.
His research interests include pharmacokinetics of residues in food animals, and comparative toxicology and pharmacology with a focus on minor species. Jim E. Riviere, D.V.M., Ph.D. is the Burroughs Wellcome Fund Distinguished Professor of Pharmacology ; Director, Center for Chemical Toxicology Research and Pharmacokinetics ; and Director of the Biomathematic Program of the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, North Carolina State University (NCSU) in Raleigh NC.
He is a fellow of the Academy of Toxicological Sciences. Dr. Riviere received his BS (summa cum laude) and MS degrees from Boston College and his DVM and PhD in pharmacology from Purdue University. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Zeta and Sigma Xi. Dr. Riviere is an elected member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies and serves on the Science Board of the Food and Drug Administration.
His honors include the 1999 O. Max Gardner Award from the Board of Governors of the Consolidated University of North Carolina, the 1991 Ebert Prize from the American Pharmaceutical Association, and the Harvey W. Wiley Medal and FDA Commissioner's Special Citation. He is the Editor of the Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and co-founder and co-director of the USDA Food Animal Residue Avoidance Databank (FARAD) program.
He is Past-President of the Dermatotoxicology Specialty Section of the Society of Toxicology and is a member of the Editorial Board of Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology as well as Skin Pharmacology and Applied Skin Physiology. Dr. Riviere has had substantial extramural research support from both government and industry totaling over 15 million dollars on grants he was the principal investigator.
He has published over 380 full-length research papers and chapters. He holds 5 U.S. Patents. Dr. Riviere has authored/edited 10 books in pharmacokinetics, toxicology and food safety. His current research interests relate to applying biomathematics to problems in toxicology, including the risk assessment of chemical mixtures, absorption of drags and chemicals across skin, and the food safety and pharmacokinetics of tissue residues in food producing animals.
Alistair I. Webb BVSc, PhD, FRCVS, DVA, DACVA, received his veterinary training at the University of Queensland, Australia with continued graduate education in pharmacokinetics and anesthesiology at the University of Bristol, United Kingdom. Since then he has been at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida working as a clinical anesthesiologist and more lately a clinical pharmacologist.
His particular interests are pharmacology and pharmacokinetics of drugs administered in the perioperative period, regulatory aspects of drug use in veterinary medicine, and welfare of experimental subjects [both animal and human]. His current positions at the University of Florida are Professor of Clinical Pharmacology in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Anesthesiology in the College of Medicine.
