Résumé

Since the publication of its first edition in 1999, "The Hydraulics of Open Channel Flow" has been praised by professionals, academics, students and researchers alike as the most practical modern textbook on open channel flow available. Open channel hydraulics deals with the research and study of the motion of water in channels that have a free surface, that is, in which the flow of water is not completely constrained by the channel perimeter and one surface is exposed to atmospheric pressure.
This book begins by developing the basic principles of fluid mechanics with applications to open channels. Later the readers are introduced to the concepts of sediment transport and hydraulic modelling (physical and numerical models). At the end, the design of hydraulic structures is introduced. The book is designed to bring a basic understanding of the hydraulics of rivers, waterways and man-made canals to the reader.
This new edition includes substantial new material on hydraulic modelling ; in particular addressing unsteady open channel flows. There are also many new exercises and projects, including a major new revision assignment.
