"Something was moving at the edge of the forest, something white and small." As a boy, Tod saves the small white fawn from certain death at the hands of the King's huntsmen. Tod and the fawn grow up together, until the fawn becomes a fine, white stag, and leaves, to become the "King in the Forest". But no kingdom can have two kings.
