Maia Delacroix is a hunter of people and magical artifacts. She enjoys her life as a mage and bounty hunter. Her life is full of excitement and danger, with very little responsibility. The Mageri shocks her with a new ward. As a recently orphaned teen, Elaina's witch mother kept her somewhat isolated from the magical community, but now, Maia is to entrench her into the magical lifestyle. But Elaina has secrets, and it soon becomes clear that Elaina is no mere witch.
The coven wants her back. They engage necromancers to turn Maia's vampire friends into enemies. If that isn't bad enough, demons start coming out of the woodwork. If Maia can turn her hunting skills into defense, they might be okay. That is, if only Elaina can trust her.
