Having studied in Lausanne, Paris, and Rome, Julie Enckell Julliard graduated in Art History, and Practice, and was awarded a postgraduate degree in Criticism, Curatorial Practice and Cybermedia. From 2013 to 2017, she has been Director of the Musée Jenisch Vevey, which she had joined in 2007 as Curator of Contemporary Art. She is specialized in contemporary drawing practices, about which she has organized many exhibitions and has published regularly for the last ten years.
In 2018 she joined the Geneva Haute Ecole d'Art et de Design as Head of Cultural Development. Her publications include Voici un dessin Suisse : Swiss Drawings (1990-2010) in 2010, the comprehensive monograph Pierrette Bloch in 2013, and Jean Luc Manz : Notebooks (1989-2014) in 2015 with JRP Ringier. Born in 1957 in Bern, Switzerland, Thomas Hirschhorn studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule Zürich (today Zürcher Hochschule der Künste) from 1978 to 1983.
He then moved to Paris where he has been living ever since. He has participated in numerous museum, gallery, and biennial exhibitions worldwide, including the Venice Biennale (1999, 2015), documenta 11 (2002), the 27th São Paulo Biennale (2006), and Manifesta 10 in Saint Petersburg (2014). He represented Switzerland at the 54th Venice Biennale (2011). Hirschhorn's "Presence and Production" projects include among others the Bijlmer Spinoza Festival, Amsterdam (2009), the Gramsci Monument, The Bronx, New York (2013), Flamme éternelle, Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2014), and Sperr at the Wiesbaden Biennale (2016).
A selection of his writings has been published in English in Critical Laboratory : The Writings of Thomas Hirschhorn, Lisa Lee and Hal Foster (eds.), October Books, MIT Press, Cambridge, Massachusetts 2013 ; and in French in Une volonté de faire, Sally Bonn (ed.), Macula, Paris 2015. He published Establishing a Critical Corpus in 2011, and Early Video Works. 1995-1997, a dvd, was released in 2013 with JRP Ringier.
Born in 1971, Marcus Steinweg lives and works as a philosopher in Berlin. He is a Professor at the Art Academy Karlsruhe. His recent books include Kunst und Philosophie/Art and Philosophy, Walter König, Cologne 2012 ; Gramsci Theater, Merve, Berlin 2016 ; Inconsistencies and The Terror of Evidence, both MIT Press, Cambridge, Massachusetts 2017 ; and Subjekt und Wahrheit, Matches & Seitz, Berlin 2018.
